Aesthetics Are of the Utmost Importance in Aliens: Colonial Marines, A Behind the Scenes Look

Alien movies are known for their gruesome horror, and having pushed the boundaries of Sci-Fi to where it stands today. Taking that into account, we think you should watch this video involving Gearbox’s game development of Aliens' post events in Aliens: Colonial Marines.
James Cameron’s Alien series turned the Science Fiction film industry on its head, re-defining the horror genre forever. Where he left off, Randy Pitchford, President and CEO of Gearbox, and his development team picked up and ran with it in a video game. With that, take a quick peek at a behind the scenes look at what the team is striving to do storyline-wise and aesthetically in Aliens: Colonial Marines:
Combining elements of FPS and Horror gaming genre’s into one hell of a title, Colonial Marines wants to be taken to another level of visual stimulation and imagination of the franchise could only do within the confines of a video game. If they put as much time into this game as they do with many of their titles, such as Borderland 2, we believe Colonial Marines will not disappoint easily.
“We’re Aliens fans, and we’ve taken the risk to tell the story of what happens next.” – Randy Pitchford.
Aliens: Colonial Marines will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Windows, and Cloud come February 13th, 2013.

11:30 PMTwo things that will hurt this game in my opinion
1. Too many scripted events.
2. Aliens will take too many bullets to kill.

11:32 PMOh, and consolitis. Gearbox is good at consolitis...uh, speaking for the PC version anyway.

11:50 AMI too am worried about the scripted events.
@Boge, can you please explain consolitis to me for an action shooter?
Did you see their "love letter" for Borderlands 2? Hopefully that applies to all their future games too.

2:31 PMI hate to be that guy, but James Cameron was only involved with the second Alien film in the series. I know this game is a direct sequel to that film and almost everyone I know regards it as the defining one of them all but it's misleading to attribute the whole series to him. Especially since Ridley Scott directed the first one and Gearbox met with him for continuity issues rather than Mr. Cameron. Really looking forward to this game though, keep up the good work.

3:02 PMConsolitis is when a PC game does not function the way it should with a mouse, keyboard, resolutions, FOV, basically the things mentioned in that love letter. Things feel unresponsive and floaty. You almost wonder if the game would play better with a gamepad than a mouse and keyboard, which is obsurd for most PC gamers and first person shooters.
That love letter actually gives me some hope too, although there have been other developers stating their game is made on PC and then ported to consoles, but the PC version still ended up with consolitis. So, until I get my hands on the game, I don't believe what a developer says about their game until it shows.

8:34 AMWow finally I see some sense about game portability.. (is that right?).
Anyway, I totally agree, played several games with consolitis and Is really anoying.
I don't hate consoles, but I understand that some games are just meant to be played with keyb/mouse or maybe even a wiimote/zapper combo rather than a gamepad with dual-stick.
